Situated at one of the busiest destination spot "Kirribilli", the thai restaurant, has now become a the next stop for everyone, kids, funky young and business people. This thai restaurant, Stir Crazy, is almost next to everything. Within 500 metres from this thai restauant, you can find North Sydney train station, luna park, liquor store and bars, not to mention an open spectular veiw for the Harbour Bridge. It is a chic and chilly place for bringing a date or catching up with your girl-friends. Not a bad plan to start dinner-ing at six-thirty, feed yourself with authentic thai dish at Stir Crazy as well as the drinks from the liquor store just nextdoor. After that, take a walk and get indulged with the tranquility of the Sydney scenic harbour view.

There are a number of Thai restaurants in Sydney, but Stir Crazy ought to be the outstanding one wrapped with authentic thai dish, friendly customer service and hippie ambience. As soon as you arrive here, you will see a couple of vintage, wooden bench tops just outside of this lovely thai restaurant and a similar seating inside the restaurant. There is an open kitchen at the back and the whole minuscule place is heated up with the scent of the thai food, people chit-chating and a great selection of funky music in the background.

The food is always authentic, presentable and palatable. This Sydney thai restaurant polishes up traditional thai dish into some nice-looking and tasty divined thai food. The picture attached is the special dish of the night, pad thai and king Prawns wrapped in omelette. The chef was more than generous to give us a dish that had served its purpose to fill up not one but two stomachs. Not only was the pad thai good to look at, it was also very tasty with the special spice that they had put together. Frankly speaking, this ought to be the best pad thai that I have ever had at any thai restaurant in sydney.

The customer serice was reponsive and quick if not excellent. It was not hard to get the attention from the thai waitresses and it did not take long to deliver the dish before us. The price is acceptable, around $20 per person. Stir Crazy is one of my faourite thai restaurants in Sydney. I recommend it to anyone and have no doubts in mind that I will go back in the near future.

Whether or not it is a new fad or a fashion, you will now see people queuing up day and night like ants outside of the renowned Sydney Japanese Sushi Train, Makoto. Makoto has two franchised stores located in North Shore, Chatswood and in the city. Japanese sushi has gained its popularity in Sydney and all-over-the-world simply because people are now more concerned about healthy food.

Chatswood Makoto has attracted lots of visitors by deliverying quality and promising Japanese food. This Japanese sushi train serves a great variety of sushi, sashimi, handrolls and other authentic Japanese dish. The sushi plates are often beautiful-looking and polished-up, though sometimes they can be westernized and do not look like the traditional Japanese sushi.


Mind that visitors are sometimes unaware that there is also a great selection of other authentic Japanese food that they can order from the Makoto menu. The Japanese handrolls are always my favourites. Pick your handroll from the menu, and you will see the Japanese Chef starts heating up the stove and preparing for your handrolls. What that means is, whatever you are ordering, you can bite it the next second when it is still fresh and hot. The chefs can often customize your order depending on your request. Some recommended handrolls are teriyaki chicken, salmon and avocodo, wagyu beef and omelette with prawns.

If for any reason like you hate seaweed and rice or you are not too much of a handroll person, try other Japanese dish. All their udons are served in a Japanese-made hot pot. It is always great to have something hot in your hands while you are freezing in winter. Nabeyaki Udon is always a good one.

When it comes down to Dessert, it is worthwhile to try one of their greentea brulee. The greentea bruless is topped with fruits and whipping cream. A very tasty choice to end your sushi night. Overall, the decor, customer service and top-notch of the Japanese food have won my heart completely. The pricing is acceptable and it is not a bad place to chill out. They have special nights on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday which mean that you can have all Japanese food on the sushi train for only $2.80.

Comments:
The food is fresh, colourful and palatable. This sushi train has helpful staff and the decor is almost overwhelming. You either get to sit facing chefs making sushi or in front of the big fish tank. A highly recommended sushi train for sushi lovers.

Comments:
La Grillade is not as good as it looks. The quality of the food just does not match with the price. If I were to choose between the 5 dollar steak at some random bar and La Grillade, I prefer not to burn 80 dollars from my monthly savings and have the 5 dollar steak. Their dessert, chocolate souffle is worth trying though.

This restaurant owner chef Tetsuya Wakuda is the fifth most highly acclaimed chef in the world. The 2006 SMH Good Food Guide deems dining at the restaurant an experience so superlative that it urges readers to make sure they dine there at least once in their lives. Tetsuya's cuisine is unique, based on the Japanese philosophy of natural seasonal flavours, enhanced by classic French technique and the freshest possible ingredients.

Tetsuya’s ten-course degustation menu changes frequently. But Tetsuya’s signature dish follows, confit of ocean trout served with unpasteurised ocean trout roe, followed by double cooked de-boned spatchcock with braised daikon and bread sauce, followed by a grilled fillet of grain fed beef with sansho & shiitake mushrooms.

Desserts include an orange, honey and black pepper sorbet served prior to a blue cheese bavarois. Finally, early season berries with orange and Grand Marnier jelly and champagne ice cream, a floating island with vanilla and praline anglaise, and a flourless chocolate cake with a bitter chocolate sorbet and orange ice cream.

However, I must warn you, this fabulous ten-course degustation will cost you $180 per person. But what the heck, because its worth it, even at least once. So take your girl there this Christmas 2006.

Kura I is this cosy little restaurant hidden in the busy streets of Chinatown. The food is great. My personal recommendation is Karage Don (Deep fried chicken on rice) and Teriyaki Chicken Don. Their side dish specialty will have to be Takoyaki (Octopus balls). The price is also relatively cheap in comparison to other Japanese restaurants in town. But do not think that their food quality is compromised by their cheap price, because I can guarantee you now, this place has tasty food. Individually, you can basically get in and out and still have change from $15. The waiters and waitresses are polite but it’s not a place for first dates or anything. It’s more like the place where you want a quick tasty dinner before a movie or something. The turnaround is pretty high, so don’t worry if you see lots of people lingering around the footsteps because they are most probably the takeaway people.

A few streets away from Kura I is Kura III. I have no idea what happened to Kura II. Either it existed before or never existed, I do not know. Maybe the number II is an unlucky number in the Japanese culture? Kura III is a little bit bigger with both indoor and outdoor seating area. The food is just as nice and the price is still as cheap.
